Day 15 - Renaming Genitals Ritual with Ayo (they/them)


🍑Genital (re)naming ritual 1.0🥕

🥭Genital naming is a ritual that I would strongly recommend everyone to do at some point. When traveling with Skinship, nothing can be assumed about one another's genders, sexualities or body parts and therefore questions like “what do you call your genitals” are highly encouraged if/when it's appropriate.

🍭For many gender queers, this question is loaded and difficult to answer and therefore everyone is invited to investigate and ask their genitals “what do you want to be called today?”

✨The owner of the genitals always chooses the names and is invited to carry out this 10min naming ritual at any time as often as wanted.✨

Apart from some primary names, the genitals can be given several other names.

✨One of the names describes the circumstances surrounding the birth. For instance, the name Moon describes the time of the day when the genitals were born. Or Autumn describes the season. Or Lion describes the starsign.✨

🐆The owner of the genitals can also have a pet name🦉 that indicates what they hope for their genitals, such as Bear, meaning ‘one who is thoughtful and independent’. Or Cocoon meaning “one who is tender and safe”.🐛 Or Seaslug meaning “the one who is transmuting”

🌈A third characteristic is to choose a name that symbolizes the current mood of the genital. Names as “shy”, “curious” or “sleepy” are examples of such a name.

🔥Doing the ritual, the genitals are given warm oil 2 times, to symbolise the wish for a warm and healthy life. 🔥

🍓The owner of the genitals are drinking a sweetened herbal tea, to symbolise a sweet life with their genitals.

🍇After the owner announces the genitals names to friends and/or intimate partners, they might be invited to add extra names if they wish to do so. This is seen as a very special gesture from the owner. The owner then chooses if these names resonate or not and are free to choose weather or not to accept them.🍇

🌈Lovers and friends might intentionally attend the ceremony while wearing coloured clothes as a symbol of joy and pleasure. This can happen when they are informed about the (re)naming ceremony and then simply being present in their hearts doing the time of the ritual. They might at some point bring presents of toys, protection, clothing, poetry and music. As well as prayers for a good life.
